RAW CAULIFLOWER LEAVES VS COOKED CAULIFLOWERS

You might assume serving your pets with cooked cauliflowers is the best, but it is not. Cauliflower leaves are ideal when raw.  This is because raw cauliflowers would still retain their nutrients, unlike cooked ones. Pigs can actually eat the cooked ones, it is just not recommended. Cooked vegetables including cauliflowers are also said to cause diarrhea. Thus, cauliflower leaves are best served raw to pigs.

CAN PIGS EAT CAULIFLOWER EVERYDAY

Cauliflowers and their leaves should not be fed to pigs daily. There should be a limit to everything. As mentioned earlier, cauliflower leaves contain a high percentage of calcium. Consumption of a high percentage of calcium leads to health complications like kidney stones or bladder stones (stony-like masses in the kidney or bladder). It can also cause indigestion as well as bloating. It is recommended to only feed your pets with cauliflowers once or twice a week. Mixing these cauliflowers or cauliflower leaves with other vegetables makes it easier to control the portion.

It is also important to note that not all pigs would instantly love cauliflower and their leaves. It is therefore important to study their physical and emotional reactions to any food you are serving to them for the first time.

Can Guinea Pigs Eat Cauliflower Stalks

Guinea pigs can eat cauliflower stalks or stems, but only in moderation. Cauliflower stalks might be a little bit harder for guinea pigs to chew on, but they can be good for their teeth and dental care. Cauliflower stems are rich in beneficial nutrients for pigs, but they also have more fiber. Excess fiber can cause bloating, diarrhea, or vomiting. This is why you need to control the portion you feed to your pets.

There are also branded cauliflower stalks, which are salty snacks for kids and adults. Pigs can’t eat cauliflower stalks snacks because these snacks can be very harmful to their stomach. These snacks have been processed with different additives which might be harmful to the pets.

In summary, now that you know that pigs can eat cauliflower leaves, I believe you would be willing to keep those leaves for your pet the next time you purchase a cauliflower.
